My new china from Tammy! After collecting it for many years, she found the deal of the century and passed hers on to me. I will cherish it forever!
It seems as though I never have enough time to post on the blog lately.....if only I could figure a way to acquire 3 extra hours per day. Of course, not for sleep, but more for accomplishing chores. I can't even seem to find enough time to read all of the blogs that I love and find inspiring. Well, I took a little time and visited a few, and realized that I am not the ONLY one! So, I thought rather than not post, I would show everybody some of the things that are keeping me so busy.
I received the most beautiful gifts this Christmas and I am trying to put them all where I can see them at one time. As my life has changed so drastically over the past year, I am changing EVERYTHING in my house to make it "my" home.
It seems as though the love for all things beautiful skipped a generation in my family. My mother, whom I absolutely adore, and wouldn't trade for anybody else, has NO desire for "vintage" anything! I was way to young to declare my love for my great-grandmother from Czechoslovakia's many treasures! My mother says that I could not have been more than 3 years old when she gave her house up and is amazed that I can describe the little white house in great detail.....from the little back porch, to the amazingly soft linens, and most of all, the delicious smells every Sunday after church.
A beautiful vintage tablecloth all the way from Iowa, from my dear friend Karen.....that shares a love for all things old and charming as well.
I remembered my Gran Gran's towels and tablecloths and try to find some anywhere that I go. Most of all, I remember all of her chenille pieces. Those are much harder to come by. I actually have a few of her handkerchiefs that are crocheted all around the edge in tiny patterns and I still carry with me.
This is a beautiful towel that Jen found for me. I love the hint of aqua on the crystals. She says that Tammy and I are THE hardest people in the world to find gifts for.....as we are always on the hunt and purchase everything that we love for the shop. So, of course, when she gave me this....I just had to know where she found it so that I could get my hands on some for the shop and the Pink Funny Farm. Needless to say, they are on the way and should be here any day! Thanks Jen!
When I was about 20, I had a smart friend named Lydia that said: "Stop crying over all of the things that you missed out on...(whether donated to the church or simply left in the attic or cellar when my parents sold their house in the mid-west.....YES...just abandoned!!!)....and start acquiring your own stuff!" Well, did that lead to an adventure!
I had told Brenda, that collects milk glass, that I wished that I could have those little white thingies that I always HATED dusting as a child. I couldn't understand why they had to be dusted every week! So, she found this and scooped it right up for me!
So...on to my project. I took this hutch from my bedroom and put it in the dining room to 1)try and put all my new treasures in one spot, 2)change the house, and 3)it was free! I am not quite sure what I am going to do to it to make it different, but I will put another photo on here when I get it all done. That way everyone will know why I never seem to have time to blog anymore!
Thanks to my beautiful friends, I now have many beautiful treasures. I am looking forward to my little project and can't wait to move on to the next room! I only wish Gran Gran could see it. She is long gone and I am trying to "acquire" lots of things to remind me of her home.....the only thing that I miss that I can't duplicate (except with age) is that saggy skin that she had on the back of her elbows. She used to laugh when I would pinch it!
We will have new pictures up in a day or two of new stuff on the Pink Funny Farm!

Beautiful china, what a great friend to pass it along! xo, suzy
